Publisher’s Blurb:
The Liszts make lists. They make lists most usual and lists most unusual. They make lists in winter, spring, summer and fall. They make lists every day except Sundays, which are listless. Mama Liszt, Papa Liszt, Winifred, Edward, Frederick and Grandpa make lists all day long. So does their cat. Then one day a visitor arrives. He's not on anyone's list. Will the Liszts be able to make room on their lists for this new visitor? How will they handle something unexpected arising? Kyo Maclear's quirky, whimsical story, perfectly brought to life with the witty, stylish illustrations of Júlia Sardà, is a humorous and poignant celebration of spontaneity.

My Thoughts:
I am a list-maker. If I don't have a to-do list, I get a little panicky. This story of a family who lives for their lists is a good lesson that sometimes, you just have to let go and go off-list.

In a family of list-makers, Edward is a little different. It takes a mysterious visitor who's not on anyone's list to convince the family to leave room for some spontaneity.

I loved the very detailed and intricate illustrations. There is so much to see; every time I look, I see more.

Possible Objectionable Material:
Can’t find anything. Parents sunbathe (clothed)? Really, nothing.

Who Might Like This Book:
People who find themselves panicking when they lose their lists! The suggested age range is appropriate. Adults can definitely enjoy the intricate illustrations!

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC.

  1. Thank you for this lovely review, Victoria. I just wanted to let you know that the book has words--many words. It seems you received a glitchy version via NetGalley. I've asked my publisher to investigate. Thanks for your patience and support.
